ADULT. is putting out a release on Ghostly International. This is pretty fucking epic. Iconic Detroit synth band on the most iconic Detroit electronic label. Oh and two words: SHARI VARI. The best thing you could possibly do is to pre-order… like, now. #detroitholla
Just over a year + some months ago, I was hanging out on the fire escape of my top floor Koreatown apartment, about to meetup with my friend Elise and her sister Natalie for lunch. They picked me up and drove west to El Compadre for an afternoon of tacos, margs and micheladas. Fast forward to earlier this spring when I stumbled across a track in my Facebook feed entitled “Keep You” – Natalie and their brother Elliot (formerly of NOMO) had started a new project called Wild Belle. I was instantly hooked. Like, HOOKED. Anyways, check out this rad video ( they’re going to be HUGE, trust me ). Everything about it is just perfect – and beautiful! So incredibly beautiful – soulful with a tint of reggae-island twang, Wild Belle is unabashedly mesmerizing. Learn more about the concept of the video here on Elise’s blog.
So this project the boyfriend and his boys back home (hello LA + Chicago + Detroit) have been working has been sitting on ice for quite some time now. The bf wrote/programmed all the electronic and synth parts on our Korg ElecTribe ESX-1 + MicroKorg and the boys added in guitars, vocals, etc. Our good friend John Strucel just finished mastering the songs recently and I guess it’s safe to say, Glacial Movement is finally happening! I’m dying to share the songs but until all loose ends are tied check out this video of the boys’ first practice and a vinyl mix here.
FYF Fest is just around the bend (like, this weekend!) and if you’re in the same situation as me and unable to go this year – you can feel like you’re at the fest by tuning into Chilli Beans/Making Time Radio’s FYF streaming radio here. Listen to the insane lineup + interviews with bands from the comfort of your own home. Can’t beat that huh?
Almost – to celebrate, Chilli Beans has collaborated with FYF Fest for a line of festival inspired sunnies. Thanks to the folks at Chilli Beans for sending me this pair!
I’ve been super delinquent when it comes to new music lately (aka the last 4 months since I got my new dream jobby) so I played some catchup tonight and decided to take a look at what Caleb’s been up to with his baby Yours Truly. I’m way impressed with some of his newest videos and the designer geek in me is totally in love with the layout of the new site. Anyway, one of my favorite videos is this one of Chicago’s Willis Earl Beal. Soulful and perfect – exactly what I needed on a warm summer’s night.
