For my birthday we decided to take a long weekend and went back up to San Francisco. Our good friend and DJ, Mike Servito, was going to be in town at the same time for a gig at the Holy Cow! for MLK weekend. It was the most amazing trip ever, with better weather than I could have ever hoped for. On my birthday we went to the MOMA SF and had a piece of Mondrian Cake at the Blue Bottle. Chocolate ganache is deadly, seriously. Went ice skating for the very first time as well which was one of the funnest things I’ve ever done in my life. It surprisingly wasn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be. Late that night we went to a random bar by our hotel which turned out to be some local hangout and ran into Smiley from St. Alfred’s. Chicago in SF – so unexpected! It was really nice seeing a familiar face. Hendricks gimlets all night, free shots and new friends made it the best birthday ever.

On Sunday, we met up with Mike and his old friend from Michigan for brunch who coincidentally is also from Rochester…what?! Jason was the most hospitable tour guide ever, walking us through the Haight, then Hayes Valley where we came across a crazy wrecked car toppled on its roof, but nothing else around it was even touched. The police looked as confused as passersby. I think the aliens dropped it from the sky. We went and saw the painted ladies and I had some serious Mary Kate & Ashley nostalgia. Full House really was totally one of my favorite shows growing up. You know you loved it, don’t even try to deny…

Sunday night was Honey Soundsystem at the Holy Cow! Manning the fog machine from the DJ booth was so cool.
